Topic Description | These are challenging but exciting times for the healthcare industry. There are many risks associated with today’s sweeping changes and you can play a significant role in helping to ensure that your organization is effectively managing these risks. Revenue cycle operations and improving the bottom line are under increased scrutiny as costs continue to increase on a seemingly daily basis. Dusting off HIPAA Security practices that should have been in place for years now, while implementing recent changes and reinforcing the importance of protecting information, can be exhausting. Implementing an EHR, participating in a health information exchange, demonstrating Meaningful Use – all without a clear roadmap for success – can be a daunting journey as well. These are just a few of the significant hurdles your organization is undoubtedly facing today. In this session, we will highlight some suggested improvement strategies for how you can add value throughout these efforts while helping to ensure risk is sufficiently managed along the way.
Learning Objectives | After this session, the attendees will be able to:
Objective 1: Obtain an understanding of the key activities performed, risks and typical deficiencies that exist, and various process improvement or project risk management strategies within the following areas: Patient Access, Utilization Review, Charge Capture, Billing & Payment Accuracy, as well as ICD-10 conversion and readiness programs.
Objective 2: Learn about approaches to strengthen existing HIPAA Security practices while also ensuring recent changes are being effectively implemented.
Objective 3: Learn about key approaches to evaluate the effectiveness of EHR implementation practices at various stages of the implementation lifecycle, managing risk while moving towards collaborative information sharing in a health information exchange, and evaluating the reasonableness of Meaningful Use programs.
